Water Series
‘I recognise water …..it gives me an understanding of identity that includes me.’ (Roni Horn)
Questions relating to place, location and by extension dislocation and movement, are a continuous focus in my work, meditations on borders and boundaries, crossings, rhythms and water, always water. Water is continuously in motion, an act of perpetual relation.
There are two on-going series: The River Project and the Sea Project
Language also plays an important part; words are like currents, a stream, sometimes merging and overlapping, sometimes not.
‘The drop of water on the tongue, was the first word in the world’ and ‘The sea turns its pages, speaking in tongues, the story is yours and you are the story’. (Gillian Clarke, A Recipe for Water)
